2018 Mazda 6 Wagon

The Mazda6 Wagon Gets Refreshed, Will Hopefully Come to America

We know we sound like a broken record when we fawn over station wagons that we don’t get in the United States, but the Mazda 6 wagon is so enticing that we don’t care.

2018 Mazda 6 Wagon

This mid-size longroof is getting the same updates that the 6 sedan receives for the 2018 model year, and seeing it with its new face just renews our desire for it to be sold in the States.

Mazda hasn’t sold a 6 wagon in the U.S. since it discontinued the first-generation 6 wagon in 2008. But it continued selling 6 wagons in other markets for the second and third generations of its mid-sizer. The updated 6 wagon that will be officially unveiled at the Geneva auto show next month looks nearly identical to the 2018 Mazda 6 sedan, sporting the same classy-looking front grille and new wheel design. Mazda hasn’t released full information yet, but we expect it will also gain a new top-tier Signature trim level with plush interior trim.

We’re not as sure about the 6 wagon’s engines, as the Europe-market car uses a different powertrain lineup than the U.S.-spec car, with gasoline 2.0-liter and turbo-diesel 2.2-liter options rather than the gas 2.5-liter four-cylinder we get. We’ll find out more info shortly about the 6 wagon, and we’ll keep pestering Mazda to consider selling it on our shores.
