The first examples of the Tesla Model X are set to be delivered on September 29, but with that deadline approaching quickly, it appears that Tesla might still be tweaking the crossover’s final specs. A few things about the CUV still remain somewhat of a mystery to buyers, too.
According to Green Car Reports, customers building the Model X Signature Series on the reservation page online are now seeing its EPA-estimated range at 250 miles, versus 240 miles just a few weeks ago. The Signature Series is currently the only version of the crossover that’s available to those with reservations. Prices start at $132,000, and the vehicle comes with a 90-kWh battery, Tesla’s Autopilot system, an air suspension with GPS memory, and more. When equipped with $10,000 Ludicrous Speed upgrade, the company quotes a zap to 60 miles per hour in 3.2 seconds. Once the standard Model X is available, it should cost about $5,000 more than a comparable Model S, Elon Musk claims.
Recent updates are also giving future owners a slightly better idea about the Model X’s cargo capacity. According toTeslarati, the automaker has new images on the build page showing the third-row seats folded down. One shot has the rear packed with boxes and another displays a bicycle lying in the back. It’s still not clear whether the second row can collapse, too. Both pictures appear to show the chairs upright but adjusted forward. Thankfully, there’s not too long before all of these questions get officially answered.
